If All Ice Melts
If All Ice Melts 2019
Medium Pvc balloon, helium, pvc coated cable, ship’s anchor, metal paint.
Dimensions 3x3m balloon, 100x65x80cm anchor, flown height variable depending on location.
First flown above Chelsea College of Art at a height of 65.8m, this meant that the line around the balloon's middle would be the future sea level.
The piece is however weather dependant, with it only ably to fly full height in low wind speeds. This does however allow viewers some opportunities to see the balloon up close.
A collection of 12 #IFALLICEMELTS deckchairs, arranged like a clock face, further emphasising the pressure of time on the issue of rising sea levels.
As viewers sit they inevitably move the chairs into groups, these unpredictable interactions are always interesting, hopefully they move to discuss the work but in the least the experience is enjoyed.
'As with many of my works, my toughest critics are also the youngest. I adore this image as it shows the youth of todays passion to change the future!'
