Murray-Pullan first conceived the idea of ‘Ice Painting’ in 2014. It took another 5 years of research and development to perfect this unique, new process of painting.

The formula that allows the ice to melt like the ice caps, the liquid and colours to flow like rivers and lakes and then to evaporate leaving a drought afflicted lake is known only by the Artist.

Several shades of blue were used in 'Untitled (Origin') to highlight the assosiation with the Oceans.

The use of acrylic paint is important to the Artist as an additional reference to the plastic plague which strangles our Earth.

Here the unique colour changing effect can be witnessed, a short example how the work is almost impossible to photograph effectively.

For 'Untitled (Elements)' Murray-Pullan uses red for fire, yellow for earth and blue for water. These when melted and dried emphasise the 'scorched, cracked earth' our planet's potential future.

'Untitled (Elements) had to be moved before the evaporation process, although not initially planned it can be seen as a sudden traumatic event, something the planet has experienced countless times.

The move did create some of the cracked, dried earth effect initially intended, however somewhat surreptitiously, the oozing inkling of pollution was amplified.
